AUTHOR’S NOTE: Hey! Well, straight to the point, I’m attempting to write Haiku even after I failed my last two attempts at trying to write that esoteric type of poetry. Just let me know if I passed this time in the comments and I’ll change the title of the poem π
Accursed.
Need to, want to drown,
Alas! An untimely curse-
Knowing how to swim.
-Kimaya Ingale.
Hey Kimaya!
Do you know what your name means?
I don’t know what Haiku means,
It is a beautiful stand-alone poem and image.
Happy Weekend,
Love and light β€

First off, thank you! π My name means a ‘miracle’ and Haiku is a kind of Japanese poetry. You should look it up π

Yes, it’s big time I should. I knew it’s Japanese, though I was talking about the form with which I was unfamiliar. Your name is beautiful. Is it a Japanese word too?

No, I think it’s Sanskrit.

Kimaya means divine, not miracle. I just googled. Thanks for the discussion and lovely weekend π

it’s hard to say what qualifies as a haiku any more as modern haiku look nothing like traditional Japanese haiku… if you are trying to keep with the seventeen syllable, three line (5,7,5) then your middle line has too many syllables, and should only have 7, not 9…this is just an observation…i love your poem π

Oh, thank you for your valuable input π Yes, I am trying to write the seventeen syllable haiku.. I’ll just edit it then π Thank you once again π

You are welcome, and I forgot to mention that this is perhaps more aptly called a senryu (like the haiku) because haiku is usually strict in its content (nature only with no human element)…:)…saw the edit, and i am not nit-licking but your second line still has 8 syllables so if you ise it’s instead of it is, the count will work π

This indeed is a deep Haiku. Yes you passed at it. I wrote my first Haiku this Feb which was:
“The Earrings
Her Golden, bell shaped,
Finely inscribed, earrings waved; Immense attention craved.”
Intrigued by your blog. Looking forward to read more π
Would like to invite you to mine. Let’s see if you like it π

Can I frankly ask you something? Did you read all of those posts which you liked on my blog?

Some I did not, for I was in a hurry to get to my tuitions. But the ones I did manage to read were smartly written.

Thanks for the complement and a candid response. Glad at least you read some of them.
But my objective was to make you read them critically rather than superficially. You can check my record/ notifications, I do not hop skip and jump from blog to blog inviting them to read mine. I ain’t here to increase likes. So next time like something you have read through and really “liked”

As it stands now, it looks like a haiku to me (5-7-5). In terms of the content, I loved the ironic twist. I’d certainly never thought of swimming as a curse before. π
