Love the idea of this haiku! Except, I’ve always learned that a haiku has to follow a 3 line structure (which you have done, yay!) with a specific amount of syllables:
    line 1: 5 syllables
    line 2: 7 syllables
    line 3: 5 syllables
You might’ve have done that, and sorry if you have because it might just be my pronunciation.
That’s just my tips, other than that, it’s really good! 😀

I have good news and bad news for you. The bad news is that Emily is right (okay, that’s good news for her, but we’re not keeping score here). A Haiku, traditionally, is 5-7-5 in terms of syllables.

Now for the good news, and I hope this will make you feel better. In the past, famous poets have broken with tradition and written Haikus in different syllable styles. If you want to see examples, go to this URL — — and scroll down to “Haiku movement in North America.” You’ll see Haikus written in 2-4-4, 1-3-3, ect.

How can they get away with this? They’re famous. But, as I like to say, it doesn’t matter if you’re famous, only that you’re confident in what you’re presenting. After all, change has to start from somewhere, so why not from you?

So, I say to you, if you want to write a Haiku in a different syllable style than the traditional 5-7-5, go right ahead and do that. It may be wrong according to tradition, but your poetry is an expression of you, and there’s nothing more right than that. 🙂

First off, I am so glad you went through it and cared enough to correct me. Thank you for that, Gabriel, I really appreciate it. 🙂 And yes, I think I will stay away from writing Haiku for- I think the rest of my life sounds good. But, I don’t think I will be changing the title of the post. I hope that isn’t too unforgivable. 😛
